The Novatel Wireless Ovation U727 is equipped with a new chipset that supports increased upload and download speeds available with the upgraded Sprint Mobile Broadband technology beginning in late 2006. This device is backward compatible with all versions of the Sprint Vision and Power Vision networks. Novatel Wireless has incorporated an external flip-up antenna, maximizing data speed performance and allowing for stronger network signal reception. External antenna port included. Y shaped USB cable also included allows you to position the actual card for the best possible reception. Packaged with Sprint PCS Connection Manager (SM) Software for connectivity to the Sprint PCS Power VisionSM Network.

This device has a microSD slot that supports up to a 4G memory card sold separately as accessories. The optional microSD card may be removed from the device at any time without interrupting your connection.

Employs CDMA wireless technology authentication and identification system for top-notch security. The Mobile Identification Number (MIN) and Electronic Serial Number (ESN), together with CDMA spread spectrum technology, make it virtually impossible for unauthorized users to capture and decipher messages and other sensitive information.

Software
Windows OS users can choose between loading the full version of Connection Manager from the CD or the new, no CD required "lite" version. Just plug in the device, wait a few moments for the software and drivers to load, one button activation and you're ready!

a) Supports Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) - this is a selectable feature in Connection Manager that works seamlessly with hibernate mode, a common feature found on most notebooks. The device will not interrupt the hibernate mode and remains ready to connect once the system "wakes up" (resumes). Also supports "auto-connect" resulting in faster connection time and intelligent data traffic routing. b) With the latest version of Connection Manager, users can take advantage of Sprint Location Services to conduct a "locate and search" inquiry. Using the GPS chipset embedded in the device, users can plot their current location on a map and then search for nearby points of interest such as gas stations, banks or restaurants. Users can also enter their own custom point of interest query. Macintosh OS users will need to follow installation procedures available on the CD-ROM included for this device.

The versatile USB design provides the customer with more connectivity options in situations where PC Card and ExpressCard slots are not available. Due to its USB form factor, the U727 supports Surprise Removal - no need to wait.
